Chico State Campus Arboretum

Locat­ed through­out cam­pus and run­ning along Big Chico Creek, the Chico State Cam­pus Arbore­tum makes for a beau­ti­ful and easy urban hike.” Dis­cov­er over 200 species of woody plants and trees from all over the world as you stroll next to Big Chico Creek through campus. 

From the brown bridge near the Phys­i­cal Sci­ences build­ing, fol­low the bike path trail west, out past the ten­nis courts and take a left towards the Uni­ver­si­ty green­hous­es where the path will end at the train tracks. 

On your return trip, cross one of the many foot bridges cross­ing the creek to explore more of the cam­pus, includ­ing the icon­ic Kendall Hall and Bell Memo­r­i­al Union, to get the full col­lege experience.

Direc­tions

Fol­low CA-32 West. Turn right onto Main St. Con­tin­ue onto the Esplanade. Find park­ing on Broad­way, W. 1st St., W. 2nd St., or Salem St. (There’s a quar­ters-need­ed park­ing garage on Salem between W. 3rd and W. 4th for eas­i­ly avail­able parking.) 

From the round­about at Salem and W. 1st, walk right and then left onto the walk­ing path between Ayres Hall and the Bid­well Pres­by­ter­ian Church. You’ll see a large paved bike bridge just slight­ly ahead and left of the Phys­i­cal Sci­ences build­ing. Cross the bridge and turn left to fol­low the path.
