And as the month pro­gress­es, you’ll notice a grad­ual shift as sum­mer events give way to fall-themed activ­i­ties, offer­ing a per­fect blend of both seasons.

Butte Coun­ty’s Sep­tem­ber line­up promis­es fun-filled days and mem­o­rable expe­ri­ences for every­one, com­bin­ing sum­mer’s out­door fun with the first tastes of autumn fes­tiv­i­ties. Come join the action and dis­cov­er why this month is one of our favorites!

Labor Day week­end in Butte Coun­ty means one thing — tub­ing down the Sacra­men­to Riv­er. Grab your friends and fam­i­ly and rent some tubes for one more relax­ing day on the water cel­e­brat­ing the unof­fi­cial end of summer.

Get ready for a day of culi­nary delights and vibrant music as the Taste of Down­town: Restau­rant & Pub Crawl and Concert returns to Down­town Chico on Sun­day, Sept. 72025.

Food and music lovers alike will be delight­ed by a diverse array of Bites & Sips” at local restau­rants and pubs, each pre­sent­ing their sig­na­ture dish­es and drinks, along with a series of live performances.

Cel­e­brate Salmon in Oroville

Var­i­ous Loca­tions, Oroville

Anoth­er annu­al event pay­ing homage to local nature, the Salmon Fes­ti­val is a cel­e­bra­tion of the migra­tion sea­son that brings the fish back to the Feath­er Riv­er in advance of the spring spawn.

Includ­ing a street fair with arts, crafts, and exhibits, com­plete with var­i­ous salmon dish­es, view­ings at the fish hatch­ery (and more), this is an out­stand­ing fam­i­ly event, espe­cial­ly for those with nature-lov­ing kids. Always the last Sat­ur­day in September.

You can also enjoy guid­ed Feath­er Riv­er Salmon Tours down the Feath­er Riv­er, host­ed by the Fore­bay Aquat­ic Cen­ter. Start­ing at the Feath­er Riv­er Fish Hatch­ery and end­ing at River­bend Park, kayak down the riv­er and get up-close and per­son­al to the migrat­ing salmon.

Tours will be offered on Sep­tem­ber 27, Octo­ber 11, Octo­ber 18, and Octo­ber 252025.

Clas­sic car enthu­si­asts won’t want to miss the 45th annu­al Con­cours d’Elegance, the county’s pre­mier car show on Sep­tem­ber 272025.

Held at the Sil­ver Dol­lar Fair­grounds this year, the event dates back to 1979, when Chico Con­cours start­ed the annu­al endeav­or of show­cas­ing beau­ti­ful clas­sic automobiles.

With grow­ing com­mu­ni­ty sup­port each year — and now the intro­duc­tion of clas­sic motor­cy­cles — the Con­cours d’Elegance is one of those events that start­ed with niche appeal and has grown into a full-fledged tradition.

Get ready for a vibrant day of com­mu­ni­ty and cre­ativ­i­ty at the Blos­som Pop-up Mar­ket, host­ed by Your Local Mar­ket­place, on Sun., Sep­tem­ber 28, 2025 from 11am-4pm at Lassen Tra­di­tion­al Cider.

The free event cel­e­brates local small busi­ness­es with over 20 ven­dors sell­ing every­thing from hand­made jew­el­ry and unique cloth­ing to fresh pro­duce and deli­cious food. You can also enjoy live music from The Chico Swing Band, free kids’ crafts, and a free library truck.
