Locat­ed in Upper Bid­well Park, the Chico Com­mu­ni­ty Obser­va­to­ry pro­vides the pub­lic with access to tele­scopes and the won­ders of the night sky. Entry is free, but dona­tions are welcomed.

It’s a place where you can explore the uni­verse first-hand, free of charge, and learn about the plan­ets, stars, space explo­ration, and upcom­ing celes­tial events. The obser­va­to­ry is open to the pub­lic year round (weath­er permitting).

The obser­va­to­ry is open on Fri­days and Sat­ur­days, sun­set to 11pm in the sum­mer and sun­set to 9pm in the win­ter. Be sure to check their Face­book page for up-to-date weath­er con­di­tions and open hours.

Also known as the Ani­ta Ingrao Obser­va­to­ry, the Chico Com­mu­ni­ty Obser­va­to­ry is a non-prof­it astro­nom­i­cal obser­va­to­ry owned and oper­at­ed by the Chico Area Recre­ation & Park Dis­trict (CARD).
