Located in Upper Bidwell Park, the Chico Community Observatory provides the public with access to telescopes and the wonders of the night sky. Entry is free, but donations are welcomed.
It’s a place where you can explore the universe first-hand, free of charge, and learn about the planets, stars, space exploration, and upcoming celestial events. The observatory is open to the public year round (weather permitting).
The observatory is open on Fridays and Saturdays, sunset to 11pm in the summer and sunset to 9pm in the winter. Be sure to check their Facebook page for up-to-date weather conditions and open hours.
Also known as the Anita Ingrao Observatory, the Chico Community Observatory is a non-profit astronomical observatory owned and operated by the Chico Area Recreation & Park District (CARD).
