Burgers & Brew

301 Broadway St., Chico

Burgers & Brew is the perfect place for families to grab a bite. The atmosphere is naturally lively and a bit loud, so your children can be themselves without disrupting other diners. They have a great kid’s menu, and there’s plenty of seating on their outdoor patio.

Plus, the Downtown Chico location is hard to beat. After dinner, you can grab frozen yogurt right across the street at Jon & Bons Yogurt Shoppe, or wander around the corner for gelato or candy from Sweet Chico Confections.

On warm days, take those desserts one block over to the City Plaza so the kids can splash around and burn off energy in the plaza’s water fountain.

Café Coda

265 Humboldt Ave., Chico

With a small arcade room right on-site and playful, kid-focused menu items like happy-face and monster-face pancakes, Café Coda is an absolute hit with kids of all ages.

The relaxed atmosphere means children can fully be themselves, and their spacious outdoor patio is a fantastic dining space for families where kids can talk freely without parents having to worry about indoor voices.

On top of the fun vibe, the kitchen easily caters to dietary restrictions with great vegan and gluten-free options. Plus, if you have older kids who love to skateboard, the Humboldt Avenue Skate Park is located less than a block away.

Fresh Twisted Café

156 E Eaton Rd. Ste E, Chico

If your family loves fresh smoothies, amazing salads, and tasty sandwiches, this is a must-visit. Fresh Twisted Café offers great food options for a variety of dietary needs in a thoroughly relaxed environment.

There are simple wall-hanging toys near the registers to keep little hands busy, comfy couches for lounging, and a wide-open dining area.

It’s also super close to the popular DeGarmo Park playground, making it incredibly easy to grab a smoothie or lunch to go on your way to some family park fun.

Redwood Sandwich Co.

If the tables are full when you arrive, just take your lunch to go and enjoy a blanket picnic at nearby Veterans Memorial Park or Hooker Oak Park, both of which offer great playgrounds.

Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.

While they don’t have a traditional kid’s menu, they offer simple side dishes that can easily be mixed and matched into an easy meal for a small child.

Tea Bar makes the list because the outdoor dining areas at both Chico locations are fantastic for families. At the Vallombrosa location, there is a water fountain and grassy area right behind the building if you want to eat on the park benches.
