Our wide-open spaces just aren't the same without you.

The trails seem tired, the lakes lifeless, and the parks pitiful.

The only thing getting us through this is knowing that this, too, shall pass.

After all, Butte County has been through a lot, and what always remains is our wide-open spaces and the people who enjoy them.

We are #ButteStrong, and we can't wait to explore with you again.

We'll see you soon.

Butte County, nestled between the top of California’s central valley and the Shasta Cascade region—reaching to Oregon—offers wide open spaces for explorers to spend their days searching for adventure.

Want to explore the places in the video above? How could you not?

The spectacular Table Mountain (0:00-0:14 and 0:21-0:24) features spring wildflowers and the fleeting beauty of Phantom Falls. Another popular spot, Feather Falls (0:25-0:29 and 0:54-0:59) is a waterfall that rivals the beauty of those found in Yosemite--but with a fraction of the crowds.

At Lake Oroville (0:51-0:54 and 1:11-1:24), you could spend days boating, fishing, water skiing, house boating—and much more—and still not have explored all that it offers. Just down the hill at the Thermalito Forebay, the Forebay Aquatic Center (0:15-0:20 and 1:00-1:05) offers up some of the best water for family-friendly kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, rowing, and sailing. And with a short drive up the Wild and Scenic Highway 70 to neighboring Plumas County, you’ll find epic bouldering and rock climbing opportunities at Grizzly Dome (0:43-0:50).

If you’re still looking for more to explore, check out the top 63 outdoor spaces in the county to create your ultimate Butte County bucket list.

And if that’s not enough, we have even more outdoor activities to offer, as well as a vibrant arts and culture scene, delicious restaurants, unique local shops, and deep agricultural roots.
