Explore Chico’s Sat­ur­day Farm­ers Market

Head to the Chico’s Sat­ur­day Farm­ers Mar­ket to check out a vari­ety of local ven­dors and enjoy a stroll through the live­ly open-air mar­ket. The crisp air and col­or­ful fall leaves make for a beau­ti­ful back­drop as you look for the per­fect produce.

Lunch at Celestino’s

After your time at the farm­ers mar­ket, enjoy a walk through Down­town Chico, where you’ll find unique-to-Chico shops per­fect for find­ing the per­fect gift for the upcom­ing hol­i­day sea­son. Not to inter­rupt the shop­ping, a quick stop at Celestino’s New York Piz­za makes for the per­fect bite. Grab a slice to-go from their walk-up win­dow and then head across the street to sit and enjoy it in the beau­ty of the Chico State campus.

Leaf Peep at the Chico Seed Orchard

Walk off lunch with a stop at the Chico Seed Orchard. For a few spe­cial weeks in Novem­ber, there’s arguably no pret­ti­er spot in Butte Coun­ty. Also known local­ly as the Tree Farm, the Chico Seed Orchard is home to hun­dreds of species of plants and trees, many of which burst with col­or late Octo­ber, peak­ing in mid-Novem­ber. One vis­it, and you’ll see why this is one of the most pop­u­lar fall spots in Chico.

Dis­cov­er Some­thing New at monca

Just a short dri­ve from lunch is the Muse­um of North­ern Cal­i­for­nia Art (mon­ca). Here, you can spend some time with your sweet­ie enjoy­ing a col­lec­tion of paint­ings, prints, draw­ings, sculp­tures, and pho­tog­ra­phy from near­ly 100 artists in North­ern California. 

Sip at LaRoc­ca Vine­yards Tast­ing Room

While in Down­town Chico, stop by the La Roc­ca Vine­yards Tast­ing Room to enjoy the lux­u­ry of their local estate-bot­tled fine wines, which include organ­ic and sul­fate-free vari­eties. Offer­ing whites, reds, rosés, and sparkling wines, you can enjoy a few hours sam­pling great region­al wines.

Dine at Crush

You can con­tin­ue the night at Crush Restau­rant. Just a minute walk away from the tast­ing room, Crush offers con­tem­po­rary Ital­ian cui­sine and a brick oven, so you can enjoy both the per­fect gnoc­chi and a fig, blue cheese, and pro­sciut­to piz­za. Don’t for­get to explore the dessert menu for a deli­cious end to the evening.

Day Two

Break­fast at Mug Shots Cof­fee House

In the morn­ing, take a short dri­ve to Oroville for a change of pace and more nat­ur­al beau­ty. For break­fast, stop by Mug Shots Cof­fee House for some deli­cious cof­fee or tea plus a light break­fast of muffins, scones, break­fast bur­ri­tos, and oth­er treats. Right in Down­town Oroville, Mug Shots is a great start to a leisure­ly walk through the heart of Oroville.

Enjoy the Fall Col­ors Along the Feath­er River

Per­haps Oroville’s most defin­ing fea­ture, the Feath­er Riv­er runs through the city, all the way from the dam to River­bend Park and beyond. And at many spots along that stretch, you can enjoy beau­ti­ful fall land­scapes dur­ing much of November.

Just a 10-minute walk away from cof­fee is the his­toric Oroville Chi­nese Tem­ple. Built in 1863 to serve the largest com­mu­ni­ty of Chi­nese north of Sacra­men­to, this tem­ple is now a muse­um still occa­sion­al­ly used for wor­ship. Take a stroll through the beau­ti­ful grounds and learn more about region­al history.
